Hi all:
One of the members of SDN's board of directors recently experienced an unfathomable tragedy - the unexpected death of her daughter. Sarah (SDN screen name, All4MyDaughter) was one of the folks manning the SDN booth at the OPM Conference back in June. Her daughter, Riley and her cousin, Claudia, both died about a month later as a result of automobile accident.
There are several ways to offer support to Sarah and her family. If anyone would like to send a card, they may send it to:

SDN has established the Riley and Claudia Memorial Fund to help defray the to help defray the girls' funeral and burial costs and to provide funding for a memorial to the girls. There are four ways to donate to the memorial fund.
1) Purchase any SDN donor subscription before the end of August. We have pledged the proceeds from all August subscriptions to the memorial fund. SDN donors can visit our Donor's Forum and enter to win raffle prizes from the MCAT Store this month (8 different items, 24 items total = huge giveaway).
2) Participate in the August Auction. This event will launch at the top of our forums page on Monday August 18th and continue through the 31st. All proceeds will go to the memorial fund. Donations are coming from SDN Staff, members, and a variety of companies such as sponsors and Test prep Week participants. There will be a variety of items posted, from textbooks that you may use in class to SDN gear to home made goodies to your very own private forum and user group.
3) Donate directly via PayPal. If you'd like to do this, please contact anna@studentdoctor.net for directions.
4) Send a check to the SDN Address above. All checks should be made out to SDN's parent organization, Coastal Research Group. Please note "for the Riley and Claudia fund" on the "For" line.
There is a little more information about the memorial fund and the accident in our forum announcements: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/announcement.php?f...
There is also information posted there on becoming a SDN donor.
If anyone has questions, please e-mail Anna Peck, SDN Administrator at anna@studentdoctor.net or to contact her on SDN member name - bananaface).
Thanks in advance for all of your support. -- LM

Lori,
Thanks for making this known - I learned about it watching it on CNN. Having 2 young daughters, I cannot even begin to comprehend what Sarah & her husband are trying to cope with.
I am issuing a challenge to all of OPM - I challenge you to match my $25 donation. Please, let's all demonstrate the community spirit that makes OPM so special!
